Leo Pharma and Klox Technologies agree dermatology deal
Leo Pharma has announced a new alliance with Klox Technologies that expand both companies' capabilities in the field of dermatology.
The worldwide licence and joint venture agreement – which excludes Klox's native Canada – will see the firms joining forces to further develop and commercialise Klox's BioPhotonic technology platform in dermatology.
It includes a CE Mark-approved treatment for moderate to severe acne, which comprises a multi-LED light used in conjunction with a photoactivable converter gel that together target the underlying problems that lead to acne vulgaris
The deal will see Leo Pharma – which will also make an equity investment in Klox – launch its first medical device therapy and enter the global market for acne. Meanwhile, Klox will be able to bring its various innovations to a wider audience.
Gitte Aabo, Leo Pharma's chief executive officer and president, said: "There is a significant unmet need for alternative acne therapies. With this technology, Leo Pharma aims at soon offering a new treatment solution that is non-invasive and effective."
Earlier this month, the company announced the appointment of Brendan Fitzpatrick as interim head of its global product supply, following the departure of Anders Spohr.
