Leo Pharma announces major restructuring plans
Leo Pharma is to restructure its organisation over the summer as it seeks to implement a more global and patient-centric operating model.
From July 1st 2012, a new geographical structure will be adopted comprising five regions and nine focus markets – including the UK, US, China, France, Russia and Brazil – that between them will account for 65 percent of sales in 2015.
A dedicated team will be set up to develop innovative delivery systems for topical products, while the company's supply chain will be made more efficient to improve access to treatments.
These changes will help Leo Pharma to shift its focus from northern Europe to the entire world, allowing it to meet the specific needs of patients across various territories.
Leo Pharma president and chief executive officer Gitte Aabo said: "Now is the right time in Leo Pharma's history to make this change. Our growth strategy is succeeding and we are ready to take the next step. It is also a necessary step."
In 2011, the company saw annual sales growth of nine percent, thanks in part to its successful entry into new markets such as Australia, Italy and South Korea.
