Life Technologies and Febit to collaborate
Life Technologies and Febit have established a co-marketing agreement to provide a new scalable solution for researchers conducting targeted re-sequencing studies, it has emerged.
The Febit HybSelect Sequence Capture solution merges the advantages of microarray-based enrichment with patent-protected microfluidic technology and eight segregated arrays within a single microfluidic biochip allow for the hands-off processing of samples.
Additionally, Febit, which produces flexible automated solutions for enabling biochip applications in Life Sciences, will expand its genomic services facility at Heidelberg with the introduction of several Applied Biosystems SOLiD high-throughput sequencing systems and PCR instruments.
Peer Staehler, chief scientific officer of Febit, said: "We are very excited about the opportunity to combine HybSelect with the SOLiD System. Our next-generation sequencing facility will take the lead in targeted sequencing of more than 1,000 samples per week."
This development comes after Life Technologies division Applied Biosystems launched MeltDoctor High-Resolution Melt Reagents earlier this month, which allow for the effective scanning of biological DNA samples.
