Life Technologies honoured in corporate responsibility ranking

18th March 2010

Life Technologies has been named as one of the most responsible corporations in the world by a leading business publication.

The science firm was included in CRO Magazine’s annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, which is based on corporate performance on issues such as sustainability, employee relations, financial performance and philanthropy.

It is the first time the company has been named on the list, which is one of the world’s leading corporate responsibility rankings based on publicly-available information.

The firm described its inclusion in the list as an honour, citing its numerous initiatives to enhance the eco-efficiency of its manufacturing and business activities as examples of its commitment to improvement.

Cristina Amorim, vice-president of global environmental health and safety and citizenship at Life Technologies, said: “This is a tribute to the outstanding work of all Life Technologies employees who understand that living as a global citizen and continuously reducing our environmental footprint are part of our core values.”

Last week, the company revealed that its Applied Biosystems SOLiD System has been used in groundbreaking research which successfully identified the specific genetic causative mutation responsible for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
