Lilly and Disney launch children’s diabetes books online

7th January 2014

Lilly has announced the free online launch of a series of children's books developed alongside Disney that help families deal more effectively with the burden of type 1 diabetes.

The digital books explore the real-life challenges and stories of children with type 1 diabetes participating in sporting activities, birthday parties and other social events, as well as offering expert guidance on how best to manage these challenges.

Titles include Coco and Goofy's Goofy Day, a storybook featuring popular Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, as well as the ESPN-branded books Up for the Challenge and Power Forward.

Previously, these books were only available via paediatric endocrinology offices, but can now be easily accessed via a desktop PC or tablet.

Kevin Donahoe, US brand director for Lilly Diabetes, said: "We are pleased to bring these unique books to as many members of the diabetes community as possible, in a format that is user-friendly and free of charge."

In November 2013, the company announced that it will be increasing its global insulin manufacturing capacity in Puerto Rico, France, China and the US to help address the growing global demand for diabetes medication.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801679373-ADNFCR
