Lilly restructures senior management following retirements
Lilly has announced a number of changes to its senior management team in response to the imminent retirement of two key business leaders.
Senior vice-president and president of Lilly Bio-Medicines Bryce Carmine is to step down from his post on December 31st 2011, alongside Dr Frank Deane, president of manufacturing operations.
Current Lilly USA president Dave Ricks is to succeed Mr Carmine in his role, with Maria Crowe to be promoted to Dr Deane's position, from her present post of senior vice-president for global drug product manufacturing.
The appointments will also coincide with the selection of Alex Azar as the new Lilly USA president, filling the role that will soon be vacated by Mr Ricks.
Dr John Lechleiter, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lilly, said: "We'll certainly miss Bryce and Frank … At the same time, we're very fortunate to have talented leaders who are well-prepared and ready to step into these critical roles."
Earlier this month, the company reported that it is progressing towards meeting its medium-term environmental goals ahead of schedule, thanks to its success in reducing wastage and energy consumption.
