L’Oreal and Proenza Schouler ally on development of new fragrances
L'Oreal has signed a new licence agreement with New York-based womenswear brand Proenza Schouler, focusing on the creation of new fine fragrances.
Founded by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez in 2002, Proenza Schouler is renowned as a contemporary and fashionable brand, with ten flagship stores and over 100 points of sale across more than 20 different countries.
The aim of the collaboration will be to create a fragrance that reflects and complements the established aesthetic sensibility of Proenza Schouler's modern art and youth culture-inspired fashion products.
It is expected that the resulting fragrance will join the likes of Cacharel, Diesel, Maison Margiela and Viktor and Rolf in L'Oreal Luxe's designer brand fragrances portfolio.
Nicolas Hieronimus, president of L'Oreal's selective divisions, said Mr McCollough and Mr Hernandez "clearly belong to the very short list of today's most aspiring US designers, whose creativity will bring the perfect complement to L'Oreal Luxe's portfolio of iconic fragrance brands".
Last month, it was announced that L'Oreal has allied with Organovo to develop a new type of 3D-printed synthetic skin for safe cosmetic testing.
