Magstim to demonstrate Rapid2 Therapy System at RCP congress

18th June 2015

Magstim has announced that it will be demonstrating its Rapid2 Therapy System to attendees at the forthcoming Royal College of Psychiatry (RCP) International Congress in Birmingham.

The event runs from June 29th to July 2nd and is the biggest meeting of psychiatrists in the UK, with 2,500 delegates attending the 2014 conference.

Magstim's Rapid2 Therapy System is currently being used by NHS trusts in the UK for the treatment of drug-resistant major depression and was recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the same indication.

It works by directly stimulating the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain that typically experiences reduced blood flow among people with depression.

The company said: "Importantly, the technique is completely non-invasive and performed as an outpatient procedure, enabling patients to go about their daily lives following treatment."

Based in Wales, Magstim was founded in 1990 and has won the Queen's Award for International Trade.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801791633-ADNFCR
