Malvern Instruments promotes science careers at UK school

Malvern Instruments has allied with Malvern St James Girls' School in Worcestershire to promote science careers for girls.

The company has given a presentation at the school as part of a new scientific discovery programme that aims to encourage take-up of science, technology, engineering and maths subjects among students across the UK.

A Malvern Instruments Science Award scheme has now been launched at the school, which will reward pupils for high-quality extracurricular work, while the firm will also be presenting sponsorships to A-level students applying for science or engineering degrees.

Rowena Innocent, engineering director of Malvern Instruments, said: "Our new scheme complements our established work with apprenticeships and student placements. With almost 30 percent of our technical roles filled by women, we have some fantastic role models for students."

The firm is headquartered in Malvern but has developed a global reach, with subsidiary organisations in all major EU markets, as well as North America, China, Japan and South Korea.
