Medilink Initiative Promotes Life Science & MedTech in Nottingham

After Medilink Midlands’ successful application with Nottingham City Council to be a recipient of the UK administration’s Shared Prosperity Fund, medical technology and life sciences enterprises based in Nottingham will keep profiting from the guidance, partnership, and network provided by the industry association.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), one component of the government’s ‘Levelling Up’ program, will deliver £2.6 billion in financing for businesses in the community by Spring 2025.

The Business Growth fund, which functions as a subsection of the UKSPF, is designed to promote the success of fast growing, high-value occupations and industries as well as those that are deemed esteemed or essential within Nottingham.

The initiative from Medilink Midlands will concentrate on bringing enterprise and new technologies to the city’s life science and medtech industries.

By doing this, they hope to maintain Nottingham’s reputation as a leader for innovation within these sectors.

Medilink Midlands’ Chief Executive, Simon Himsworth, explained how the government finance “will help stimulate a culture of innovation across Nottingham” and work to create and expand a “comprehensive, integrated, coordinated life science ecosystem to support companies to accelerate their ideas to market.”

Nottingham City Council’s Robert Dixon, responsible for both business growth and local investment defined the city as “the home of BioCity/Pioneer Group, which is Europe’s most successful life science incubator, and Boots – the UK’s premier health and wellbeing retailer.”

“Medilink Midlands can support businesses to grow with its concept of creating synergies between business, academic research, and NHS and healthcare providers.”
