Medtronic acquires Aptus Endosystems and CardioInsight Technologies

22nd June 2015

Medtronic has expanded its cardiac health portfolio through the acquisitions of Aptus Endosystems and CardioInsight Technologies.

Aptus Endosystems of California is a privately-held medical device company focused on developing advanced technology for endovascular aneurysm repair and thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair.

The $110 million (69.57 million pounds) deal will see Medtronic acquire rights to Aptus' Heli-FX and Heli-FX Thoracic EndoAnchor systems and the TourGuide Steerable Sheath.

Tony Semedo, president of the aortic and peripheral vascular business within the cardiac and vascular group at Medtronic, said: "The aortic business is an important growth engine for Medtronic. We are committed to bringing proven solutions that transform vascular disease management."

Meanwhile, the CardioInsight Technologies deal is worth $93 million and will give Medtronic access to the company's new technological approach to improving the mapping of electrical disorders of the heart.

The innovative CardioInsight ECVUE system is designed to noninvasively generate images of the electrical activity of the heart by combining body surface electrical data with 3D anatomical information.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801791896-ADNFCR
