Medtronic introduces new intraoperative nerve integrity monitors

17th September 2009

Medtronic has announced the availability of a new range of intraoperative nerve integrity monitors for surgeons.

The NIM-Response 3.0 and NIM-Neuro are designed for use by a range of surgeons, including those specialising in general, endocrine, ear, nose and throat and peripheral operations.

As well as helping surgeons to identify and confirm motor nerve function, the equipment also monitors major nerves in the body and issues audio and visual warnings when there is risk of nerve damage during surgery.

Carla Pagotto, product manager for intraoperative monitoring with the ear, nose and throat division at Medtronic, said: “Our new NIM systems expand monitoring capabilities in the operating room to help improve patient safety [and bring] exciting new features to our customers.”

Last week, Medtronic announced that its senior vice-president and chief financial officer Gary Ellis would take to the stage at the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Conference to discuss the firm’s efforts deliver its sustainable growth plans.
