Medtronic launches new fenestrated screw spinal system
Medtronic has announced the launch of its new CD Horizon fenestrated screw spinal system in Europe.
The new product is designed for use with fenestrated screw cement and is utilised in the immobilisation and stabilisation of spinal segments, as an adjunct to fusion of the thoracic, lumbar or sacral spine.
This means it can offer benefits for patients with poor or compromised bone quality stemming from conditions such as osteoporosis.
It is being initially introduced by Medtronic in Europe as the first phase of a global rollout, with further launches set to take place in India, Singapore and Australia in the coming months.
Doug King, senior vice-president and president of Medtronic's spinal division, said: "European surgeons will be the first to use this exciting new technology to provide enhanced treatment options to their patients."
Last week, the company also launched its new CareLink Mobile Application, a system that facilitates the remote monitoring of patients with implanted cardiac devices.
