Medtronic publishes annual corporate citizenship report for 2012
Medtronic has released its corporate citizenship report for 2012, which details the highlights of its corporate responsibility programmes during the most recent fiscal year.
The Contributing to a Healthier Future report noted that the company was able to reallocate research and development resources to promote access to therapies in emerging markets over the last year, while launching a new global employee inclusion, diversity and engagement strategy.
Elsewhere, a system was implemented to collect information on product materials, making it easier to assess compliance with environmental regulations, and Medtronic sourcing personnel were given training to promote responsible practices throughout the supply chain.
The document also underlines the key role the company played in driving private sector engagement in a UN meeting on the prevention and control of non-communicable disease in September 2011.
Earlier this month, Medtronic published new clinical data from a study called Improve HF, which demonstrates the benefits of evidence-based medication and device therapy for heart failure patients.
