Medtronic recognised by DJSI for sustainability performance
Medtronic has announced that it has once again been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DSJI) for North America.
The index analyses and recognises companies based on a variety of sustainability criteria, including economic performance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This is the eighth consecutive year it has been included in the list.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks. The company has also been consistently included in the FTSE4Good Index Series.
Medtronic attributed this recognition to its efforts to enhance global access to healthcare, product quality and patient safety, ethical business practices, employee engagement and development, and environmental performance.
Gary Ellis, chief financial officer at Medtronic, said: "We are proud of our efforts to address chronic disease, to follow environmentally sound business practices and to bring sustainable value to all of our stakeholders."
The firm recently announced that it was able to achieve double-digit growth during the first quarter of its 2016 business year.
