Medtronic study shows benefits of iPro2 Professional CGM

8th February 2016

Medtronic has announced results from a new study showing the benefits of its iPro2 Professional continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device.

The retrospective analysis assessed more than 80,000 iPro2 Professional CGM procedures in the CareLink database, including anonymised data from 70,167 patients and 353,520 patient-days in a diversely treated population of people with type 2 diabetes outside the US.

It was shown that patients with type 2 diabetes generally experience high rates of glycaemic variability, hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia, regardless of whether they manage their diabetes with diet and exercise, oral medication or insulin.

Moreover, use of the actionable iPro2 Professional CGM information was proven to help physicians make therapy adjustments, recommendations and educational decisions to help patients improve their glucose control.

Dr Robert Vigersky, medical director for Medtronic Diabetes, said: "Our data suggests that using Medtronic's iPro2 Professional CGM provides physicians with insights to help them optimise therapy recommendations for their patients with type 2 diabetes, no matter how they are being treated."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801812094-ADNFCR
