Menarini produces record 100 tonnes of sanitising gel per month

1st May 2020

In March, Menarini’s Board of Directors decided to repurpose part of its production plant in Florence to manufacture disinfectant gel for donation to hospitals and healthcare organisations in Italy to combat Covid-19. The plan was to produce five tonnes of disinfectant gel a week, but now, just a few weeks later, production has increased from 20 to 100 tonnes per month and Menarini are in a position to meet the ever increasing demand.

But it does not stop at sanitising gel, Menarini has also donated 400,000 N95/ FFP2 type and 300,000 surgical masks to the Federation and Scientific Societies of General Medicine, together with over 20,000 pieces of PPE – goggles, face shields, coveralls and protective gloves, plus an ultrasound scanner and lung ventilators. Relife, a Menarini Group company, has also donated 10,500 boxes of DermoRelizema cream (total 150,000 tubes) to healthcare providers to help with skin irritation caused by a prolonged use of PPE.

Director of Menarini Corporate Press & Media Relations, Valeria Speroni Cardi, said: “At such a difficult time for both Italy and the entire world, the Menarini Group is doing its part by continuing its commitment to patient health. Through these donations we would like to express our gratitude to all those who, by doing their jobs every single day, are contributing towards saving lives.”
