Merck allies with Angiex on production of new cancer therapy

Merck has announced a new collaboration with Angiex, a startup company dedicated to the development of vascular-targeted biotherapeutics.

The deal will see Merck supporting the Massachusetts-based startup to speed the development of its lead oncology antibody drug candidate and bring it to market as quickly as possible. 

Angiex is developing an antibody-drug conjugate therapy for cancer against a vascular target called TM4SF1, and will utilise end-to-end process development tools, education programmes and training from Merck to accelerate production.

This collaboration with Angiex represents the first project to be undertaken at Merck's new biodevelopment centre in Burlington, Massachusetts, which is set to be inaugurated in October.
