Merck Millipore agreed manufacturing alliance with Samsung BioLogics

Merck Millipore has signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung BioLogics for a biopharmaceutical manufacturing alliance.

The partnership will encompass a long-term supply agreement that will see Merck Millipore provide raw materials for Samsung's biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations, which will be expanding with the launch of a new facility in Korea next year.

Samsung and Merck have been working together for some time, with this new partnership set to deliver mutual advantages for both companies' long-term business strategies and competitiveness.

Dr Udit Batra, president and chief executive officer of Merck Millipore, said: "Our latest partnership in the biopharmaceutical sector will further strengthen the great relationship Merck and Samsung have built in other business areas for the past years."

This comes after Merck Millipore announced earlier this month that it will be expanding its own manufacturing capabilities by investing in improvements to its French production site in Molsheim.

It will augment its capabilities for the production of ready-to-use media, among other products.
