Merck reveals plans to build a state-of-the-art €18m life-science laboratory facility

Merck has revealed plans to build a state-of-the-art laboratory facility in Buchs, Switzerland, which will cost eighteen-million euros, for December 2021, to support the company’s fast-growing reference materials business.

The three-story contemporary workplace, which will generate two dozen new jobs, will include laboratory and office space for existing employees to move into a collaborative environment. The brand-new facility will offer a more efficient way of working for future and current employees in analytical production, research, development, as well as quality control.

Head of Applied Solutions, Life Science at Merck, Jean-Charles Wirth, stated: “Researchers in testing labs around the world use Merck’s reference materials every day to help generate accurate, reliable analytical results in pharmaceutical, environmental and food and beverage analysis. This new laboratory will allow us to continue to drive innovation in diagnostics and testing and expand our research and development of analytical standards.”
