Merck Sharpe and Dohme appoints new chief strategy officer

28th September 2011

Merck Sharpe and Dohme has announced the appointment of Cuong Viet Do as its new chief strategy officer, effective as of October 3rd 2011.

Mr Do will succeed Mervyn Turner – who retired from the company this summer – and joins the organisation from his former role as senior vice-president of corporate strategy and business development at TE Connectivity.

Previous employers also include Lenovo and McKinsey and Company, while Mr Do also currently occupies a position on the board of the pharmaceutical research outsourcing company WuXi AppTec.

The newly appointed strategy officer will report directly to chief executive officer Kenneth Frazier and will play a major role in Merck Sharpe and Dohme's future growth plans.

"Cuong will work closely with senior management to ensure that Merck continues to build on our tradition of innovation that helps improve and save lives around the world," Mr Frazier added.

Last week, the company officially opened a new research and development site in Ballydine, County Tipperary.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800741818-ADNFCR
