Merial launches piglet indication of Circovac
Merial formally launched the piglet indication of Circovac in the EU at its recent forum in Malta.
The event was attended by more than 200 delegates from Europe and around the world, with several experts presenting new clinical data for piglet, sow, or piglet-plus-sow vaccination with the company's PCV2 vaccine.
Sophie Randoux, technical and marketing director for production animals at Merial, said the firm took the piglet indication registration step because "the need was clearly expressed by different markets and by practitioners in the field".
She added: "This claim makes Circovac the first PCV2 vaccine worldwide with both sow and piglet indications."
The experts presenting data on Circovac in Malta included technical director for Merial Asia Dr Henry Too and Professor Mathias Ritzmann of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna.
Last month, Merial requested nominations for the 2011 Merial Applied Equine Research Award, which will be handed out during the 12th World Equine Veterinary Association Congress in India later this year.
