Merk Release Doggy GPS

A new product that monitors canine movement and behaviour with GPS tracking abilities, Animo® GPS, has been released by Merck Animal Health, a part of Merck & Co, Inc.

The gadget enables dog parents to see what is going on as it is happening, with information on their pets’ exact position updated every five seconds while in “Lost Dog Mode”. It also sends out an alert in less than 20 seconds notifying owners if their pooch exits its assigned “Safe Zone.”

Christine Royal, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and associate VP of Companion Animal and Equine at Merck, explained that “one in three dogs will go missing in their lifetime and 80 percent of them will escape from their own home or yard. It only takes a moment for a dog to slip out – and knowing within seconds that they’ve done so can make all the difference in ensuring a safe return home.”

Animo GPS uses sophisticated technology to measure a dog’s individual rate of activity and behavioural patterns via an app. Data on barking, scratching, shaking, and sleep duration are all recorded by the gadget.

It uses algorithms to analyse data issue an alarm via the app if there are any major adversities in patterns. This information is crucial to identifying possible health issues and offer pet owners a basis of understanding to explore further with a veterinary expert.

With Animo’s battery lasting up to three months, there is less danger that it will run out while owners are still trying to find their pet. It is completely water-resistant, reactive in any weather, and attaches to a collar, enduring any experiences a dog may have.
