Metrion adds low volume liquid handling capabilities to portfolio

Metrion Biosciences Limited is a UK based company focused on ion channel contract research and identifying potential new medicines. The specialist company will be adding robotic liquid handling systems e.g. including pipetting and sample preparation, 384-well electrophysiology and fluorescence-based HTS assay systems to its portfolio.

Metrion already has three high-fidelity QPatch 48 channel systems, which the new low volume liquid handling capability will complement. These platforms will work together to facilitate cell biology operations.

Dr. Gary Clark, head of screening technologies at Metrion, will oversee the deployment of these new additions alongside their strengthened cell biology capabilities.

The head of screening has spent more than 2 decades in drug discovery, with almost 3 quarters of this specializing in ion channel contract research. His vast experience includes (but is not limited to) medicinal chemistry screening, assay development and cell line production. Dr. Clark graduated from The University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology with Physiology and came out of the University of Coventry with a PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
