Metrohm releases new instrument for biodiesel market

3rd May 2007

Metrohm has released a new range of oxidation stability analysers.

The 873 Biodiesel Rancimat is a PC-controlled instrument that allows for the determination of the oxidation stability of biodiesel and biodiesel blends as per EN 14 112, reports Laboratorytalk.

Metrohm’s equipment features disposable reaction vessels, thereby minimising cleaning requirements and saving time and money. The manufacturer adds that accuracy and reproducibility of measurements are also improved.

The 873 Biodiesel Rancimat also features a "GLP Set with certified temperature sensor [that] allows you to set the temperature very accurately and reproducibly, which in turn improves the precision of the results."

Firms and enterprises are increasingly using alternative fuels from renewable sources as environmental issues become more widespread.

The news follows reports that the Metrohm 743 Rancimat can measure the oxidative stability of cooking oils and therefore be used to monitor and predict their life span.
