Millipore expands agreement to supply market with insulin

21st August 2007

Millipore has announced an expansion of its agreement with Novo Nordisk to supply the biopharmaceutical market with recombinant human insulin.

The company will have exclusive global rights to advertise and sell the insulin, a key cell structure supplement used in the manufacture of biologic drugs, which will be branded as Incelligent AF for cell culture media applications.

The present supply deal between Millipore and Novo Nordisk was extended for several years and guarantees that producers in the biopharmaceutical market will have a definitive supply of insulin for use in products and in the development of new cell lines.

Vice-president of Millipore bio-products and technologies business unit Andrew Bulpin commented that the deal confirms both companies’ commitment to the supply of animal-free recombinant insulin to the biopharmaceutical market for the long-term.

Millipore is a provider of services and products for clinical, research and analytical laboratories. Novo Nordisk is a healthcare company and states that it has the widest range of diabetes products in the biopharmaceutical industry.
