Millipore receives Frost and Sullivan Award

Millipore has been awarded the 2007 Frost and Sullivan Technology Innovation of the Year Award for work in the US drug discovery technologies market.

The award recognises Millipore’s Ubiquitous Chromatin Opening Element (UCOE) which offers "significant benefits" to manufacturers of biologic-based medicines.

The UCOE programme has allowed Millipore to introduce high expression elements which revolutionise the speed at which protein therapeutics can be produced in mammalian cells.

According to the company, the UCOE technology is expected to have a lasting impact upon drug discovery and the development of therapeutic drugs.

Millipore president and chief executive officer, Martin Madaus, said that the company was "immensely proud" of the UCOE development team and that they represented "the high calibre" of research skill that Millipore possesses.

"We hope that receiving the Frost and Sullivan Technology Innovation Award will bring about expanded awareness of our dedication to bringing innovative new products and expertise to the Life Science Industry," he continued.

Each year the Frost and Sullivan Technology Innovation Award is presented to a company which has "demonstrated technological superiority within its industry".
