Molnlycke purchases Brennen Medical’s burn and wound care unit
Molnlycke Health Care has announced the acquisition of the burn and wound care business division of Brennen Medical.
The company has paid an undisclosed fee to take ownership of all commercial assets relating to the unit, which includes products covering the three main areas of porcine xenograft tissue, beta-glucan creams, gels and dressings, and ancillary burn care products.
Brennen Medical has been a well-reputed name in this market for almost 40 years, with its products being used in hospitals and burn centres across the US, Canada and certain parts of Europe.
Following the transaction, Brennen will continue to develop the core technologies of porcine tissue and beta-glucans under a new name, for applications in other markets.
Barbara Osborne, president for US wound care at Molnlycke Health Care, said: "Combining Brennen Medical's best-in-class products with our own market-leading wound care brands will provide Molnlycke Health Care customers with a comprehensive range of technologically advanced and clinically proven burn and wound care solutions."
Last November, the company was presented with six accolades by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals at its annual MarCom Awards.
