Movetis wins European award nominations

Movetis has been honoured with a number of nominations at the European Mediscience Awards, in recognition of its achievements in the last year.

The pharmaceutical company was shortlisted in three out of the eight categories at the Piper Jaffray-sponsored event, which honours achievements in the healthcare, biotech and life science sectors.

Its lead marketed product Resolor was named among the nominees for the Breakthrough of the Year prize, while company head Dirk Reyn was chosen as a candidate for Chief Executive of the Year.

In addition, Movetis’ initial public offering for Euronext, which raised 97.8 million euros (81.3 million pounds) for the company, also received a nod in the Transaction of the Year category.

The winners of the awards will be announced at an event in London, which is taking place on June 24th 2010.

Last month, Movetis commenced a new phase III clinical trial of Resolor in order to gauge its efficacy among patients with constipation induced by opioid based pain medications.
