MSD Animal Health receives EU approval for Porcilis PCV M Hyo

3rd December 2014

MSD Animal Health has announced that the European Commission has approved Porcilis PCV M Hyo, its ready-to-use single-injection combination vaccine for piglets.

It is the only product of its kind to offer protection against porcine circovirus and mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infections during the fattening period. Since it comes ready-to-use, it does not require mixing.

Other advantages of the vaccine include the fact it can reduce the number of vaccinations given to young piglets by providing protection against both diseases for at least 21 weeks after a single injection, with no restrictions to maternally-derived antibody levels.

The diseases are two of the most important contributors to respiratory diseases in pigs, making them a considerable burden to swine producers.

Narciso Bento of MSD Animal Health's global swine business said: "Porcilis PCV M Hyo is a convenient new option for producers and provides the immunity piglets need during a crucial time in their development."

This comes after the firm also received EU approval for Nobilis IB Primo QX, a vaccine for chickens against viral infectious bronchitis, in September 2014.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801764172-ADNFCR
