MSD aims to begin clinical studies on its multivalent HPV vaccination, labelled Gardasil 9, to analyse the efficiency and risks associated with the treatment.

The organisation will run two research trials comparing two distinct trials to assess if a solitary dose of the vaccine offers equivalent long-lasting defense in comparison to the authorized three-dose schedule.

The vaccination received authorisation from the FDA to prevent a range of cancer types, including cervical, head and neck, and oropharyngeal, caused by nine HPV types.

The vaccination rate for HPV continues to remain low on a global scale. According to the most recent vaccine coverage data from the World Health Organization, the worldwide coverage for full dosage in 2022 stood at 15% for females and 5% for males.
