Mylan appoints global commercial lead for OTC business
Mylan has announced the appointment of Ranjan Ray Chaudhuri as global commercial lead of its over-the-counter (OTC) business.
He joins the company from GlaxoSmithKline's consumer healthcare business, where he served for nearly three decades, taking responsibility for its global smoking reduction and cessation category.
Mr Chaudhuri was credited with turning around the business's performance and delivering double-digit revenue growth, as well as leading the development of an innovative programme designed to improve the quality of life of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients.
In his new role, Mr Chaudhuri will report to Rajiv Malik, president of Mylan.
Heather Bresch, Mylan's chief executive officer, said: "We are committed to investing significantly to expand our OTC business, knowing that OTC is an important channel that will complement our existing strengths in the prescription and generic channels around the world."
This comes as the firm continues its efforts to close a deal to expand its OTC capabilities further with the acquisition of Perrigo.
