Mylan completes acquisition of Renaissance’s specialty and generics business
Mylan has announced the completion of its acquisition of the specialty and generics business of Renaissance, a move that will help Mylan to expand its commercial capabilities.
The non-sterile, topicals-focused assets acquired from Renaissance will complement the company's existing branded and generic topical products, providing it with an established US sales and marketing infrastructure targeting dermatologists, as well as an integrated manufacturing and development platform.
This includes a leading topicals-focused contract development and manufacturing organisation. Combined with the pending acquisition of Meda and its dermatology portfolio, Mylan expects dermatology/topicals to become a key global franchise for the business.
Heather Bresch, chief executive officer of Mylan, said: "We are excited to welcome the business's more than 1,200 dedicated employees to the Mylan family and look forward to their contributions to our mission of providing high quality medicine to seven billion people."
The firm now offers a growing portfolio of more than 1,400 generic and branded pharmaceuticals, with a research and development and manufacturing platform including more than 50 facilities.
