Nalco to support WWF on water conservation initiatives
Nalco has committed to supporting the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on its water protection and conservation initiatives across the globe.
The process improvement company is to offer funding for the WWF’s Global Water Roundtable, which is being organised with the Alliance for Water Stewardship to establish sustainable freshwater management standards.
In addition, the firm is also set to lend its scientific expertise to assist with the conservation organisation’s efforts in areas of scarce or poor quality water supplies.
Erik Fyrwald, chairman and chief executive officer of Nalco, said such initiatives are increasingly important due to the pressures placed on water supplies by rising global populations.
He added: “This partnership will help determine sustainable industrial water use practices that can reduce poverty and conserve water, supporting our recent endorsement of the CEO Water Mandate.”
Last month, the company published its 2009 financial results, during which it achieved record levels of free cash flow despite declining sales for the year.
