Nalco wins industry award

Nalco has been won the 2008 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for its 3D Trasar technology.

The firm was bestowed the award for the ‘greener reaction conditions’ area at a ceremony at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington DC on Tuesday evening (June 24th).

An independent panel of experts selected the winners from almost 100 nominations.

The firm claims more than 5,000 customer locations used its 3d Trasar technology in the US, Canada and Europe saving an estimated 40.2 billion gallons of water.

"Besides cooling water applications, the 3D Trasar platform has been expanded to control and optimize conditions in reverse osmosis systems and process applications for a broad range of industrial and institutional customers," a company statement said.

Nalco also won the accolade in 1999 for its Ultimer polymers.
