Nestle and Samsung to develop new digital nutrition platform
Nestle and Samsung have announced a research collaboration exploring how nutrition science and digital sensor technologies could offer new insights into healthy living for consumers.
The companies have joined forces to develop a digital health platform to provide individuals with personalised recommendations on their nutrition, lifestyle and fitness, making it possible to manage health and wellness with a single platform.
Initial work will be carried out by the Nestle Institute of Health Sciences in Lausanne and the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Centre in Silicon Valley, with the long-term aim being to combine Internet of Things technology with the latest advances in nutrition science
More details about the platform are expected when the first pilots begin in early 2017.
Stefan Catsicas, Nestle's chief technology officer, said: "We are delighted to enter this collaboration with a global leader in the field of sensor technologies. It will advance our nutrition, health and wellness strategy to support people who want to live a healthier lifestyle."
This comes after the firm announced plans to collaborate with Imperial College London to conduct research exploring metabolic health and nutrition earlier this year.
