Nestle recognised as environmental leader in CDP Climate A List

2nd November 2017

Nestle has been recognised as a world leader for its attempt to combat climate change, being placed on the 2017 Climate A List, compiled by the not-for-profit organisation CDP.

The company is among just five percent of participating companies being featured on the Climate A List. It is in recognition of the action Nestle has taken in the last year to reduce its emissions, mitigate climate risks and further develop a low-carbon economy.

Nestle has said that climate change leadership is part of its goal to enhance quality of life and contribute to a healthier future around the world.

Over the last ten years, Nestle said it has reduced direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per tonne of product by 39 per cent, while boosting production by 46 per cent. The company said it is on track to achieve its 2020 objective to reduce GHG emissions per tonne of product by 35 per cent across all manufacturing operations, compared to its 2010 figures.

A total of 112 companies made the Climate A List. CDP said that this year, it had “set the bar even higher” by raising the the threshold for an ‘A’ score, therefore making the top spot “more competitive and more coveted than ever before”.
