Nestle recognised in 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index
Nestle has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability through inclusion in the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
The company has been ranked as the industry leader in the food products category, with a total score of 89 out of 100. In particular, it received industry-best scores in the economic and environmental metrics.
The DJSI is a globally recognised independent benchmark that measures the performance of the largest 2,500 global companies across three dimensions: economic, environmental and social.
Nestle's inclusion in the list reflects its recent efforts to increase its share of renewable energy by using solar panels, spent coffee grounds or wood chips to power its factories, with the overall goal of achieving zero environmental impact across its operations.
Most recently, the firm opened a new manufacturing unit at its Montes Claros factory in Brazil with neutral environmental impact on three dimensions: water, waste for disposal and carbon emissions.
