New occupational health service for dentists in Scotland from June 2018
In 2017, the Scottish Dental Practice Committee’s Stress in the Dental Workplace Working Group submitted a report to the Scottish Chief Dental Officer on the problems dentists are facing, particularly the need for general dental practitioners to have access to a range of funded NHS occupational health services. British Dental Association Scotland is undertaking further research to identify the causes of stress and isolation in the dental workplace with a view to identifying how it can support GDPs to cope with stress and mental exhaustion.
BDA Scotland is encouraged that a new occupational health service for dentists and dental practice staff will be delivered through NHS Boards in conjunction with SALUS (NHS-based provider of occupational health services), and available from 1st June, 2018.
