New PM Promises to Fix the NHS and Social Care Crisis

30th July 2019

New UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as laid out plans for hospitals to receive upgrades and for patients to be able to gain faster access to GP appointments.
Giving his first official speech last week, it has been promised that the Government will focus on fixing the social care crisis and ensure that money for the NHS really does ‘get the frontline.”
In response to the promises made, the NHS Confederation said “Hundreds of thousands of people are left every day without the vital care and support they need. Hearing that the government plan to deliver a long term solution to the social care crisis will be one of the most significant achievements in recent years. We look forward to engaging with the Prime Minister and help bring an end to the crisis.”
The NHS is in urgent need of extra capital investment in order to upgrade hospital and speed up waiting times at GP Surgeries. Whilst the confederation are pleased to hear that this is a high priority on the the new government’s agenda, they feel they need more details on how this will be achieved, as they can’t see how this will happen at the moment.
