NHS Confederation welcomes NAPC as primary care provider network

The NHS Confederation has moved to strengthen the provision of primary care in the UK through the integration of the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC).

A transition period up to April 2015 will see the NAPC become the primary care provider network for the NHS Confederation, becoming a fully-integrated part of the larger organisation within three years.

NAPC will retain its name and its leadership, who remain committed to taking forward the work of the association. Both organisations will work closely together over the coming months to define the finer details of the move, with NAPC members to be consulted.

NHS Confederation chief operating officer Matt Tee this alliance will help "to further widen the diversity of primary care providers within NAPC and to ensure that they have a central role to play within our membership in shaping future innovative care provision".

The confederation is the membership body bringing together the full range of organisations that commission and provide NHS services, including acute trusts, ambulance trusts, clinical commissioning groups, foundation trusts and mental health providers.
