NICE recommends using Roche’s Immunotherapy Tecentriq for Lung Cancer

After an earlier negative decision, NICE now recommends the NHS use Roche’s Immunotherapy for the treatment of lung cancer.
Guidelines endorse the use of Roches Immunotherapy Tecentriq to treat patients with non small cell lung cancer after the disease has progressed following standard chemotherapy.
Each year over 46,000 lung cancer cases are diagnosed in the UK, with less than 5% surviving the disease for ten years.

Data has shown that people treated with Tecentriq lived 4.2 months longer than those who received standard chemotherapy and also experienced fewer side effects. Tecentriq blocks PD-L1, a ligand found on the service of cancer cells that stops them from being detected and being destructed by the immune system.
