NI’s health service received over 160,00,000 items of PPE in the first five months of the pandemic

Northern Ireland’s health service received 167,464,244 items of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the first five months of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the

Business Services Organisation (BSO). The PPE imported included visors, masks, eye protectors, gowns and aprons. In addition to this, the BSO delivered nearly four-point-five million items, such as antiseptic wipes, hand sanitiser, theatre caps and scrubs.

Some primary care providers also obtained PPC themselves, and therefore, these figures were excluded.

Late March and April was the busiest delivery period so far when nearly 15 million items were imported, roughly double the weekly average.
