Norgine agrees new research partnership with Alimentary Health

2nd September 2011

Norgine has entered into a new development partnership with Alimentary Health that will focus on the creation of new treatments for gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.

Under the terms of this agreement, the companies will collaborate on the evaluation of proprietary probiotic technology developed by Alimentary Health as a potential medicinal product for various GI afflictions.

Once this process is completed, Norgine will have the option to negotiate a licence to commercialise the technology, with Alimentary Health to receive milestone payments depending on its progress.

This will support Norgine's existing activities in the area of gastroenterology, hepatology and supportive care, fields in which it is a recognised leader.

Paul Pay, Norgine's vice-president of corporate and business development, said: "This research collaboration is of great interest to Norgine as it signals our first move into the growing field of probiotics and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration with Alimentary Health."

This comes after the company agreed a new alliance with Nycomed last month that will grant the latter organisation rights to commercialise Moviprep in Russia and other territories.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800717325-ADNFCR
