Norgine provides financial backing to SuperSonic Imagine

13th January 2014

Norgine has provided financing of five million euros (4.15 million pounds) to medical technology firm SuperSonic Imagine through its Norgine Ventures division.

SuperSonic Imagine is the creator of the Aixplorer, an innovative ultrasound system that utilises patented ShearWave Elastography technology to image and measure tissue stiffness in real time, making it a useful tool in diagnosing malignancies.

Founded in 2005 in France, the company will use Norgine's funding support to accelerate further technological development and commercial expansion in the US and in Asia.

Norgine has made this investment in SuperSonic Imagine as part of its ongoing strategy of growing valuable assets that can drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.

Peter Stein, chief executive officer of Norgine Ventures, said: "SuperSonic Imagine's technology can revolutionise the diagnosis of cancer and provide economic value to healthcare systems, enabling provision of the right treatment to the right patient at the right time."

Last month, the company agreed a debt financing deal with Stanmore Implants Worldwide, a pioneer in the limb salvage and preservation orthopaedic implants markets.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801681395-ADNFCR
