Norgine study shows benefits of Moviprep in colon cleansing

6th May 2014

Norgine has presented data from a new study showing how its product Moviprep can be beneficial in achieving successful colon cleansing prior to colonoscopy.

Data highlighted at the Digestive Diseases Week event in Chicago revealed that the choice of bowel preparation regimen is key in achieving successful colon cleansing, with other factors – such as age, gender, body weight and prior use of laxatives – also playing a role.

Moreover, treatment with Moviprep was shown to be significantly more effective than sodium phosphate or sodium picosulphate plus magnesium citrate in achieving an acceptable colon cleansing result.

By utilising an optimum bowel preparation regimen to support a successful colonoscopy, patients are likely to benefit from better clinical diagnosis, according to Norgine.

Chief development officer Donna McVey said: "This data highlights the value of Norgine's medicines for those undergoing this intrusive procedure and its longstanding expertise in gastroenterology."

This comes after the firm recently commenced a phase IIb trial of ICEF15, a new faecal incontinence therapy being developed alongside Innovacell.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801717795-ADNFCR
