Novartis launches company-wide health and wellbeing programme
Novartis has announced the launch of a company-wide initiative that aims to help its employees improve their health and wellbeing.
The Be Healthy project is being rolled out across Novartis Group associates in 32 countries, with sites offering healthier food options, encouraging staff to exercise and providing guidance on healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Meanwhile, support programmes are being offered to those working with an illness, with 76 of the largest Novartis sites across 32 countries involved this year, while an additional 88 will also participate from 2012.
Novartis states that programmes of this kind are vital following a World Economic Forum report showing that workplace health and wellbeing schemes can help to prevent conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and lung disorders.
Joseph Jimenez, chief executive officer of Novartis, said: "Be Healthy supports our strong belief that good healthcare starts with our own employees."
Earlier this month, the company held its annual International Biotechnology Leadership Camp, during which it highlighted the importance of diversity in the life science sector.
