Novo Nordisk to support World Haemophilia Day
Novo Nordisk is seeking to raise awareness of haemophilia to coincide with the annual World Haemophilia Day event taking place this weekend.
As a corporate partner to the World Federation of Haemophilia, the company is conducting a variety of activities on April 17th 2011 to help improve knowledge of the bleeding disorder.
For example, it has set up a dedicated channel on YouTube through which it will share informative and inspirational videos, while it is also supporting a new web forum that allows haemophilia sufferers to share their personal stories.
It is hoped that these initiatives can aid understanding of a debilitating condition that affects more than 400,000 people across the world.
Charlotte Ersboll, corporate vice-president in Novo Nordisk, said: "We aim to bring all partners in the haemophilia community together to improve access to treatment … and commit to the continued fight to improve the quality of life for people with haemophilia."
Last month, the company published new data from a clinical trial of its basal insulin analogue Levemir, showing its efficacy in treating type 1 diabetes among young children.
