Organon signs licence agreement with Endotis Pharma

Organon Laboratories has signed an exclusive, worldwide licence agreement with Endotis Pharma over the development and commercialisation of several antithrombotic compounds.

The agreement sees Endotis acquire exclusive rights to develop and commercialise three antithrombotic compounds.

Two of the compounds display a dual mechanism of action where blood coagulation factor Xa inhibition is combined with thrombin inhibition.

The other compound has shown innovative dual mechanism of action by combining factor Xa inhibition with an antiplatelet effect.

Charles Woler, chairman and chief executive officer of Endotis Pharma, stated his delight in signing the agreement as he believed the compounds would “strongly reinforce” the company’s position in thrombosis.

“Due to their oligosaccharide structure, they perfectly fit with our focus on small-glyco drugs. We are proud that Organon has faith in Endotis to develop these very promising compounds,” he added.

David Nicholson, executive vice president of research and development of Organon, echoed Mr Woler’s satisfaction with the agreement and indicated that Organon would continue to be involved in the manufacture and development of the compounds.

Last month, Organon received EU funds to co-ordinate the FluVac project which intends to bring together a consortium of experts to develop a pandemic influenza vaccine for use as a potential emergency vaccination.
