Orthofix appoints new member of board of directors

Orthofix has announced the appointment of Dr Anthony Martin to its board of directors with immediate effect.

Dr Martin possesses more than 25 years of international experience in managing life science businesses. He is the current non-executive chairman of Immunodiagnostics Systems, Sphere Medical and Phico Therapeutics, as well as being a non-executive director at Abcam.

This comes after the company recently appointed Randy Thurman and Kathy Regan to its board, while Brad Mason rejoined the firm as chief executive officer earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Emily Buxton was named as its permanent chief financial officer in April 2013, having filled the role on an interim basis since last October.

Orthofix is aiming to introduce a seasoned and motivated new leadership team in order to help guide the business into a new era of growth and success.

Mr Thurman, who is chairman of the board of Orthofix, said: "We are focused on reinvigorating both product and clinical development strategies, establishing leadership in our strategic business units and creating long-term value for our shareholders."
